We track Freddo prices, not you.
We’re here to track chocolate prices. Here’s how we handle information when you visit or get in touch.

Who to contact
The Freddo Index is an independently operated website. For questions about this notice, requests about your personal information or complaints, email thefreddoindex@gmail.com.
When you browse
You do not need an account to use the index. Our hosting provider processes technical information, such as your IP address and browser details, to deliver the website and protect it against misuse. Our purpose and legitimate interest is to provide a working, secure website.
The index loads fonts from Google Fonts and its chart library from jsDelivr. These providers receive information needed to deliver those resources, including your IP address and browser request details. Links to retailer websites only take you to those sites when you follow them; their own privacy notices apply.
When you get in touch
The contact form opens a draft in your own email app. It does not upload your name or message to a website database. You decide whether to send the email.
If you send it, we receive your email address, any name you supply, your message and any attachments in Gmail. We use these to respond, check reported prices and maintain the index. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in handling correspondence and improving the site. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information.
We keep correspondence for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and retain relevant evidence of price reports or follow-up discussions. We delete information when it is no longer needed. Sending a message does not automatically make it public; if we want to publish an identifiable quote or credit, we will ask your permission first.
Optional Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to help us understand visits, page use, device and browser types, approximate location and how people reach the site. It processes online identifiers and interaction data. We use consent as the lawful basis for this optional analytics.
Our analytics code loads only after you choose Accept analytics. Choosing Reject analytics leaves it off and does not limit the site. You can change your choice using Cookie settings.
Our implementation disables Google Signals and advertising-personalisation signals and denies advertising storage and advertising-data consent. We do not intentionally send contact names, email addresses or message contents to Analytics. Google explains its processing in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Cookie lifetimes below are separate from Google’s retention of collected analytics data.
Cookies and your saved choice
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| freddo-analytics-choice-v1 | Local storage, not a cookie. Remembers your accept or reject choice, with a timestamp. Used only to honour your preference. | Choice valid for 180 days. Browser storage can be cleared sooner. |
| _ga, _ga_* | Optional Google Analytics cookies used to distinguish browsers and sessions. Set only after acceptance. | Configured for up to 180 days without automatic renewal on visits. |
If you withdraw consent, we stop analytics and remove accessible Google Analytics cookies for this site. Withdrawal does not undo processing that was lawful beforehand. To request deletion of information already collected, contact us; we may need additional information to locate your records. If browser storage is blocked, your choice may only last for the current page.
Service providers and overseas processing
Our hosting provider, Google (Gmail, Fonts and Analytics) and jsDelivr help deliver these services. Providers may process information outside the UK. Where we make a restricted transfer, appropriate safeguards are required, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct or erase your personal information, restrict its use, or receive a portable copy. You can withdraw consent at any time.
You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Email thefreddoindex@gmail.com to exercise your rights. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Changes to this notice
We will update this page when our use of information changes and show the update date above. Where a new purpose requires consent, we will ask before using optional analytics for that purpose.
